How Detox Programs Can Help You Lose Weight

We all know people, either friends or family, who are overweight or obese and are trying to lose weight. We might be in the same category as well.

The world has turned into a global village. We don’t have to go all the way to a supermarket for grocery shopping and spend hours on cooking. We can buy ready-to-cook food or order whatever we want to eat. Everything is a single click away. But have you ever thought that the processed and ready-to-cook food you’re eating, is doing more harm than good? Of course, it saves your time and energy, but take a moment here and think about the price you are paying in return.

According to WHO statistics of the year 2016, the prevalence of obesity has tripled worldwide between 1975 and 2016. These stats are a wakeup call for all of us to start taking our health seriously. This is the need of an hour that we focus on what we are eating and how our body is getting affected by it.

Your organs are like a machine that has many functions and is working tirelessly. So, like any other machine, they need to relax. Can we contribute to letting our organs relax and de-stress? The answer is YES! We can Through detoxification.

Detoxification is a technique for abstaining from unhealthy food and removing harmful substances accumulated in the human body.

This means that by following detox method, you can kill two birds with one stone. You not only remove toxic material from your body, but you eat nutritious and healthy food too. Unlike other impractical diet regimes (in which you have to starve till you faint), this procedure does not push you to the edge until you give up and start eating even more.

You can eat and drink as much as you want. But there is one condition that you have to fulfill: EAT RIGHT TYPE OF FOOD.

Now, what is the right type of food?

As you are about to detox your body, i.e., remove extra load from it, you are not allowed to take in sugars or any flour. According to recent research, they are even more addictive than cocaine. Relax! You don’t have to cut it from your life forever. Most detox regimes are only for a week or ten days. Therefore, you will be saying them goodbye for 7 or 10 days. Happy now? Okay, so back to sugar and flour. The primary logic for removing it is that you intend to give a break to your gastrointestinal tract.

Say hello to smoothies. Instead of eating full meals, have smoothies instead. Again, it’s just for a couple of days! Smoothies are highly nutritious and very delicious to drink too. Plus they fulfill your appetite and keep you satiated. Your GIT won’t have to put in a lot of effort to digest and excrete them. Smoothies can be made from cucumber, lemon, watermelon, strawberries, mint, ginger, rosemary, and apple cider vinegar, etc.

Drink hot water with lemon juice squeezed in it, empty stomach in the morning. An oldie Goldie. Everybody knows the benefits of this ancient drink.  It helps you lose weight and stay active and fresh.

Bye-bye processed food. What could be more lethal for you than junk food? You are not allowed to consume processed or canned food in the detox process. This is because they put additional load on your digestive system, especially liver. Also, they are associated with the most deadly diseases like heart attack and cancer.

Drink plenty of water. It is a natural detoxifier. It aids in the removal of toxins and wastes from your body and it keeps you fresh, active, and alert as well.

If you have noticed, all the detox terms and conditions run parallel to reduced intake of food which implies weight loss. You don’t have to be a genius to understand that detox can help you shed extra pounds if appropriately followed. But keep it in mind that these results will be temporary. For long-lasting effects, you will have to make some permanent changes in your diet regimes.
